Our story

How Stumbl began

Stumbl began with a simple idea: discovering something memorable should not depend on being in the right place at the right time. Founder Chad Richards first imagined the app while taking an entrepreneurship course at Brigham Young University, but its inspiration traces back to an unforgettable experience from years earlier.

When Chad was 17, he traveled to Italy with a group of classmates. After playing frisbee on a beach, they returned to a nearby plaza and found a stage where five women were leading children in a dance. Chad decided to jump in. After one song of dancing by himself, all of his classmates joined him and transformed a fun night into an unforgettable memory.

That experience showed Chad just how much fun can come from stumbling across a local event. We are building Stumbl to help people discover those moments without having to leave them to chance. Our goal is for Stumbl to feel like the local friend who always knows what is happening nearby, whether you are exploring your own city or planning adventures for your next vacation.
